Superheros and Missionaries
So I think I have mentioned this before that Ryan has started telling Davin that missionaries are superheros. Davin thinks this is the coolest thing ever because he loves superheros. I thought this was a really cute and clever way to help Davin be excited about one day serving a mission but tonight I seen how come missionaries truly are superheros. Once a month we have the missionaries over to our house to eat dinner. Davin and Amrika get excited every time but they get excited whenever anyone comes by. Anyway the missionaries came tonight and right when they walked in they immediately called the kids by their names and gave them high fives. The kids right away beamed because they knew their names. One of the missionaries (Elder Wood)just got transferred here and the other (Elder Slaugh) has been here as long as we have. Davin has sparked a friendship with Elder Slaugh and always likes to sit by him and play with him. Anyway the night went on and all through dinner Davin just kept laughing and looking at Elder Slaugh like he truly was a superhero. Just watching the two of them interact made my heart swell because I don't think that missionary knows how much of an example he is being to my son. Right before the missionaries leave they always leave a thought with us. Elder Slaugh did such a good job at making sure the kids were a part of the lesson and Davin just sat there in complete silence you could tell he was truly listening. The spirit was so strong in our home even the missionaries were getting teary-eyed and poor Elder Wood barely made it through the closing prayer. That is one thing I would miss if we ever did move back to Utah is having the spirit the missionaries bring into our home. I am afraid for the day that Elder Slaugh leaves because I think poor Davin is going to be so sad. It sure is hard not to get attached to these SUPERHEROS! After they left I asked Davin if he was excited to serve a mission like Elder Slaugh and he said, "Yeah. He's got big muscles." Hey what ever works.

Tell him to get good grades, work hard, learn a language in school, then he might get called on his mission and use his superhero powers to convert the bad guys in Idaho, like his cousin Erik. Jerid adds, he thinks they filmed Batman in Idaho.
